Udhayanidhi reiterates that TN will never accept trilingual policy

chennai: deputy chief minister udhayanidhi stalin reaffirmed that the tamil nadu government will never accept the central government's trilingual policy, emphasizing the state's commitment to linguistic rights.at a protest organized by the dmk and its alliance parties in chennai, demonstrators condemned the centre's decision to link education funding with the implementation of the national education policy (nep). addressing the gathering, udhayanidhi asserted:“if the central government believes tamil nadu will bow to the imposition of hindi, it is mistaken. the introduction of hindi threatens the prominence of tamil. states like rajasthan, bihar, and uttar pradesh have witnessed the erosion of their native languages—rajasthani, bihari, and bhojpuri—due to hindi dominance. if tamil is relegated to a secondary status, it will face a similar fate.”he criticized the aiadmk for what he called “submissive governance” during its tenure, accusing the party of failing to oppose policies detrimental to tamil nadu's interests. he reaffirmed the dmk-led government's commitment to the state's bilingual policy and rejected any attempts to introduce hindi as a third language.“tamil nadu must receive its rightful education funds without conditions. if the centre refuses, we know how to assert our rights. we will not hesitate to launch a state-wide agitation,” he warned.udhayanidhi invoked tamil nadu's history of resistance against hindi imposition, recalling the sacrifices made during the anti-hindi agitations. “more than a hundred people gave their lives to protect tamil. we are ready to sacrifice even more if needed,” he declared.criticizing the aiadmk's stance, he urged all political parties to unite against the trilingual policy instead of engaging in political opportunism.he concluded with a strong message to the centre: “in the past, when prime minister modi attempted to infringe upon tamil nadu's rights, people protested with 'go back modi' slogans. if this continues, he will face even stronger resistance from the people of tamil nadu.”the protest highlighted growing tensions over language policies, with the dmk-led government vowing to resist any attempts to impose hindi in the state.
