Agricultural University to improve socio-economic conditions of farmers
hisar: chaudhary charan singh haryana agricultural university (ccs hau) will improve the socio-economic conditions of farmers, especially the marginalized farmers of mewat region through a project entitled 'achieving improved livelihood security through resource conservation and diversified farming system approach in mewat'. through this project at the cost of rs.2.66 crores, farmers of mewat region comprising tauru, firozpur zirkha and nagina blocks will be trained in all relevant technologies of agricuture and rural development, said an official source. according to an official statement, r.k. malik, professor of agronomy would be the principal investigator of this project. besides providing profitable and sustainable crop production, the farmers will be motivated to adopt and implement these technologies in their agriculture and its allied profession so as their income is enhanced, he said. subsidiary occupations like dairying, goatery and mushroom cultivation will be introduced through this project. opportunities for selected vegetable based cropping system will be explored for multiple land usage, using conservation agriculture technologies and that special emphasis would be laid on conservattion agriculture using zero tillage technologies, he stated.
