AI revolution rapidly replacing human cognitive abilities: Scientist Ashutosh Sharma
new delhi: the artificial intelligence (ai) revolution is rapidly replacing human cognitive abilities with machines, and in the next decade, employability will depend on what humans can do that machines cannot, padma shri awardee and former dst secretary ashutosh sharma said on saturday.delivering the keynote address at iit-delhi's “open house,” sharma said the current ai transformation mirrors the first industrial revolution — which replaced manual labour with machines — by now automating human thought processes.“this comes full circle. the ai revolution is replacing the cognitive abilities of the human mind at an exponential rate,” he said, adding that creativity, writing, and art are already being replicated by machines.he warned that the “bottom rung of hiring” in top tech companies has disappeared as it is replaceable, and the trend will continue to rise. “every profession — from design to law — will be impacted. certain jobs will vanish, but new opportunities will emerge,” he said.sharma emphasised that while education today is largely exam-centric, true learning requires synthesis and problem-solving. “education is about process, not just content,” he noted.
