Counselling for medical seats begin today in Karnataka

bangalore: the karnataka examinations authority (kea) begins counselling on thursday for medical, dental and indian system of medicine & homoeopathy (ismh) seats available, and dental seats in government and private unaided professional colleges. the counselling for common entrance test (cet) medical ranks 1 to 1900 will be held on thursday as notified in the cet brochure, 2009. as many as 1,094 medical and 788 dental seats will be offered for selection to candidates under general merit and reserved category. medical education minister ramachandra gowda will inaugurate the counselling. “we are expecting roughly about 10 to 12,000 students overall both at hubli and gulbarga centres,” said the official. the software, designed national infomatics centre, will see an update of seats on offer students and kea officials in hubli and gulbarga almost immediately. 'the software will upload the seat selection in 0.16 seconds, onto the big screens put up at the gulbarga and hubli centres. we have a single master computer through which the information is fed onto the server. there is also a backup server in case of the main server faces a glitch,' said the official. loans at 6 pc  karnataka examinations authority officials said no student will be refused education loans at six per cent.    ' it does not matter which college he or she gets, government or private under the cet. the candidate will be given the loans at 6 per cent rate of interest,' said kea official.
