CSIR throws open labs to public on foundation day
chennai: the council of scientific and industrial research (csir) celebrated its 84th foundation day on friday with an open day organised at its chennai campus in taramani by csir-structural engineering research centre (csir-serc) and csir madras complex (cmc).as part of the event, the regional units of csir-cecri, csir-ceeri, csir-csio, csir-neeri and csir-nml at the csir campus, along with the tower testing and research station (ttrs) facility in tirusulam, were opened to the public between 9.30 a.m. and 2.30 p.m.over 9,700 visitors, including school and college students, teachers, industry professionals, entrepreneurs and members of the general public, participated in the celebrations. students from the jigyasa student-scientist connect programme also joined the event.visitors were given a first-hand look at demonstrations of advanced facilities, technologies and products developed by csir across its laboratories. many interacted with scientists and researchers, showing keen interest in the exhibits and ongoing multi-disciplinary r&d initiatives.officials said the open day turned into a vibrant platform for knowledge sharing and public engagement, highlighting csir's contributions to science, technology and industry over the decades.
