DSIR successfully completes Special Campaign 5.0
new delhi: the department of scientific and industrial research (dsir), along with its autonomous body council of scientific and industrial research (csir) and public sector undertakings national research development corporation (nrdc) and central electronics ltd. (cel), has successfully completed special campaign 5.0 held from october 2 to 31 under the guidance of dsir secretary and csir director-general dr. n. kalaiselvi.union minister of state (independent charge) for science and technology dr. jitendra singh periodically reviewed the campaign's progress.a total of 146 cleanliness drives were conducted across dsir, csir laboratories, cel and nrdc during the campaign, along with plantation drives to promote the goal of a clean and green india. awareness programmes on swachhata were also organised for students at sarvodaya vidyalaya, begumpur, where competitions and hygiene kit distributions were held.under the leadership of dr. kalaiselvi and close monitoring by the joint secretary and nodal officer for the campaign, dsir achieved 100 per cent targets in scrap disposal, grievance redressal and record management.during the campaign, 9,400 files were reviewed and 6,180 weeded out, generating ₹1.5 crore in revenue through scrap disposal and freeing 30,580 sq. ft. of space.innovative best practices were introduced, including steel slag road technology developed by csir-crri for eco-friendly road construction, a biomedical waste-to-soil additive process by csir-niist, and a bio-methanation anaerobic gas lift reactor by csir-iict. a cyber hygiene audit of 70 computers also freed 43.5 gb of digital space.dsir said it remains committed to achieving zero pendency, enhancing digitisation, and improving service delivery in the months ahead.
