Enhance income ceiling limits for BC students: CPI leader

puducherry: the puducherry unit of the communist party of india (cpi)  urged the administration to enhance the income ceiling for the backward class students in the kamaraj educational assistance scheme to rs two lakh instead of rs 50,000. party secretary na ra kalainathan pointed out that at a time when the sixth pay commission recommendations was implemented, even the group 'd' employees were getting rs 10,000 which would come to rs 1.25 lakh per annum. in such a situation no one could avail the benefit under the scheme, he said. welcoming the announcement that 50 per cent of the seats in private engineering and medical colleges here would be filled with local students, he urged urged the administration to strictly implement it.
