FTII extends deadline for Film Appreciation Course till June 15

pune: the film and television institute of india (ftii), under the ministry of information and broadcasting, has extended the application deadline for its mid-year film appreciation course 2025. the course will be conducted from june 23 to july 11 at the ftii campus in pune. interested candidates can now apply until june 15, 2025 (6:00 pm ist).the deadline extension comes in response to a high number of requests from film enthusiasts across the country. the course, jointly conducted by ftii and the national film development corporation - national film archive of india, forms a key part of ftii's outreach to promote film literacy and appreciation.structured as an intensive, full-time residential programme, the course introduces participants to the language, aesthetics, and history of cinema. sessions will run from 9:30 am to 8:30 pm on weekdays, with screenings and lectures delivered by ftii faculty and guest experts. the curriculum includes exposure to films in both 35mm and digital formats, along with critical analysis of fiction, non-fiction, and documentary cinema.the programme will also feature interactive sessions with noted filmmakers. course coordinators include ftii faculty indranil bhattacharya and vaibhav abnave.the course is open to teachers, media professionals, researchers, film society members, government officials in media departments, and serious film enthusiasts. selection will be based on the applicant's demonstrated interest in cinema and media-related fields.limited hostel accommodation will be provided, with preference given to differently-abled and female candidates. participants are otherwise expected to arrange their own travel and stay.for application and further details, candidates can visit the ftii website or apply directly via the provided google form link.
