IIT Madras CFI Showcases 60 Tech Innovations at Open House 2025

chennai: the centre for innovation (cfi) at iit madras showcased 60 cutting-edge technological innovations developed by nearly 1,000 students across 26 teams at the cfi open house 2025 held on campus on saturday.among the standout prototypes were 's.a.m.v.i.d', an ai-powered humanoid designed for india's first constitution museum, 'supersyringe', a volume-gated syringe ensuring precise anaesthesia dosage, and 'drone swarm', a coordinated fleet of drones for payload lifting and delivery.speaking at the event, iit madras director prof. v. kamakoti emphasized cfi's role in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among students. “this year has seen stellar performances by cfi teams in national and international competitions while also contributing to intellectual property development. many students are venturing into startups, with some projects reaching the pre-incubator stage at nirmaan,” he said.prof. sathyanarayana n. gummadi, dean (students), highlighted the institute's focus on innovation, revealing that 15 patents were filed this year and three potential startups are under consideration.notable achievements included team raftar's top spot in formula bharat 2025 and team igem's gold medal at the international genetically engineered machine (igem) competition. hyperloop research at team avishkar is also advancing sustainable high-speed transportation.the open house, an annual showcase, serves as a platform for industry collaboration and investment, further strengthening iit madras' reputation as a hub of technological excellence.
