JIPMER holds awareness programme for World Glaucoma Week
puducherry: the jawaharlal institute of postgraduate medical education and research (jipmer) organised a health education programme on march 10 as part of world glaucoma week, focusing on creating public awareness about early detection and prevention of vision loss due to glaucoma.dr. ramesh babu, professor and head of the department, welcomed participants and stressed the importance of public education in preventing glaucoma-related blindness.addressing the gathering, medical superintendent saka vinod kumar highlighted the need for regular eye examinations to detect glaucoma early.an awareness talk titled “know glaucoma” was delivered by subashini kaliaperumal, who explained how the disease can silently damage vision if left undetected.the programme also featured educational videos, a role play by doctors, and prize distribution for competitions conducted during the awareness week. patients, families, nurses, students and faculty participated in the event.
