JIPMER Marks National Voluntary Blood Donation Month with Drawing Contest
puducherry: the department of transfusion medicine at the jawaharlal institute of postgraduate medical education and research (jipmer) organised a drawing competition to mark the national voluntary blood donation month, observed across india in october.the event, held under the aegis of the pondicherry aids control society, aimed to raise awareness among students and the public about the importance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives and ensuring a safe and sufficient blood supply. the competition was conducted at the jipmer blood centre on the themes “give blood, give hope” and “together we save lives.”dr. reena gulati, professor, department of paediatrics, and ms. sundarambal, jipmer artist, served as judges for the competition. the winners were felicitated by dr. abhishekh, additional professor, department of transfusion medicine, who commended the participants for their creativity and commitment to promoting the spirit of voluntary blood donation.the programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from school students and members of the public. officials said such initiatives help strengthen awareness about the significance of regular blood donation and encourage citizens to contribute towards the life-saving cause.jipmer officials reiterated that voluntary blood donation plays a crucial role in maintaining adequate blood reserves for medical emergencies and fostering a culture of compassion and solidarity in society.
