Medical aspirant, parents held for obtaining MBBS seat using fake certificates in Dindigul
dindigul: the crime branch police have arrested a first-year medical student of dindigul government medical college and her parents for allegedly securing admission using forged neet and counselling certificates.police said the accused, identified as karunya srivarshini (19) of palani, dindigul district, had scored 228 marks in the neet examination and failed to secure a medical seat in the first round of counselling. in a bid to obtain admission, her father chokkanathar (55), a land surveyor in dharapuram, and mother vijaya murugeswari (47) allegedly created fake documents showing that she had scored 456 marks and was allotted a seat at the dindigul government medical college.believing the documents to be genuine, the college authorities granted her admission. however, during the verification of admission details by the directorate of medical education in chennai, discrepancies were found, revealing that the certificates were forged.following a complaint from the college principal dr. veeramani, a team led by sp pradeep, crime branch dsp kumaresan, and inspector muthulakshmi investigated the case and arrested the student and her parents.the trio have been booked for forgery and cheating, and further investigation is underway, police said.
