puducherry: pondicherry central university has climbed to the 470th position in the qs asia university rankings 2026, marking a notable rise from its previous 501-520 band in 2025 among 1,526 institutions across 48 asian countries.deputy registrar k mahesh said the university's overall score improved from 18.8 to 30.7, reflecting strong gains in academic excellence, research output, and international engagement. in the south asian region, the university advanced from rank 140 to 121, highlighting its growing prominence.research productivity also showed a sharp increase, with papers per faculty rising from 48.2 to 76.6 and citations per paper improving from 16.9 to 19.4. internationalisation indicators strengthened as well, with the ratio of international faculty increasing from 4.6 to 5.1 and international students doubling from 2 to 4.the university's international research network score surged from 26.3 to 77.6, signalling expanded global collaborations.vice-chancellor p. prakash babu congratulated the faculty, researchers, and staff for their efforts in achieving this milestone, terming it a reflection of the institution's sustained commitment to academic and research excellence.
