Schools told to complete RTE admissions by Oct 17, refund fees within a week

theni: private schools in theni district have been directed to complete admissions under the right to education (rte) act by october 17 and refund tuition fees collected from eligible students within seven days of their selection.the instructions were issued during a consultative meeting held at velammal matriculation school, muthuthevanpatti, chaired by district educational officer (private schools) shanmugavel. officials including mohan, officer of the integrated school education assistance scheme, rte coordinator karian, and special officer jagan, along with private school principals and emis coordinators, participated in the session.it was noted that the rte admissions, originally scheduled for april-may, are being carried out now. education authorities emphasised that the 25 per cent reservation for students from economically weaker and disadvantaged sections must be fully implemented.officials instructed schools to register the list of selected students on the emis portal. in cases where applications exceed available seats, schools have been advised to conduct a transparent lottery in the presence of parents and the chief educational officer (ceo).the move aims to ensure timely implementation of the rte provisions and facilitate access to free and compulsory education for all eligible children in private non-minority schools across the district.
