Three ITI students detained, released on bail in ragging case
madurai: three students of a government industrial training institute in chekkanoorani were detained for allegedly ragging a classmate and later released on bail, police said on wednesday.since all three were juveniles, they were granted bail. a case has been registered against them, and they have been suspended from the institution. a top police official said, “they were released by the judicial magistrate. separate trial will go on hereafter.”the hostel warden has been suspended pending an official enquiry. a senior iti official clarified that the accused were batchmates of the victim, not seniors as previously reported.the incident came to light after a video went viral on social media on september 23, showing the student being ragged, allegedly having his clothes removed and being hit with a slipper by his classmates. the victim's parents lodged a complaint with the police following the incident.
