About
The Chief Minister Research Fellowship (CMRF) Scheme aims to provide a research platform for meritorious postgraduates, supporting their academic and professional growth by enabling them to pursue full-time Ph.D. programs.

Significance
The CMRF Scheme facilitates research and innovation across various disciplines, enhancing academic excellence and contributing to the state's socio-economic and scientific progress. It provides scholars with financial assistance to focus on their research without financial constraints.

Beneficiary
A total of 180 meritorious scholars will benefit from the fellowship in 2024.

The distribution is as follows:
60 scholars in Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
60 scholars in Science in Government/Government-aided colleges.
20 scholars in Engineering in Government/Government-aided colleges, Anna University departments, and constituent colleges.
20 scholars in Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, and Science in state university departments under the Higher Education Department.
20 scholars in disciplines such as Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Fisheries, Education, Atmospheric Science, and Oceanography in state universities.

AmountThe fellowship provides:
A monthly stipend of ₹25,000.
A contingency allowance of ₹10,000 per annum for Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences streams and ₹12,000 per annum for other streams.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be natives of Tamil Nadu.
Must hold a postgraduate degree from a UGC-recognized institution in Tamil Nadu. Final-semester PG students may apply but must meet eligibility norms upon completion.
A minimum of 60% marks in PG (with 5% relaxation for SC/ST, differently-abled, and women candidates).
Selection Process
Candidates will be selected based on their performance in the CMRF eligibility test conducted by the Teachers Recruitment Board (TRB) and adherence to CMRF norms.
