India: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) held a convocation ceremony on July 7, 2024, at 13 locations nationwide, including Chennai, Mumbai, and New Delhi, to award certificates of membership to around 10,000 newly enrolled Chartered Accountants.
The event featured live addresses from Bengaluru by Shri TV Mohandas Pai, Chairman of Aarin Capital, and CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, President of ICAI.
In Delhi, CA. Charanjot Singh Nanda, Vice-President of ICAI, led the ceremony with the support of Central and Regional Council members.
At other locations, Central and Regional Council members presented certificates to the new members. Shri TV Mohandas Pai congratulated the newly enrolled Chartered Accountants, emphasizing the milestone's significance.
CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal highlighted ICAI's achievements, including its 75th anniversary, gender diversity (with 30% female members), and technology adoption in areas like forensic accounting and AI.
CA. Charanjot Singh Nanda praised the global recognition of Indian Chartered Accountants and ICAI's innovative initiatives, such as issuing remote audit guidance. He also encouraged new members to enhance their technical and communication skills to maintain global excellence.
In Chennai, Central Council members and convocation coordinators led the ceremony, convocating around 1000 members at Kalaivanar Arangam, attended by approximately 3000 participants.
The ICAI conducts convocation twice every year to award Certificate of Membership to newly enrolled members as bonhomie to the CA fraternity.
The convocation is intended to bring young members of the profession under the umbrella of the fraternity of Chartered Accountants and foster a sense of belongingness to the profession and the institute.
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is a statutory body set up by an Act of Parliament under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 for the regulation and development of the profession of Chartered Accountancy in India.
