Chennai: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) will host the first-ever international Hyperloop competition in Asia, the Global Hyperloop Competition (GHC) 2025, from 21st to 25th February 2025.
Organized by IIT Madras, IITM Pravartak, and SAEIndia, the event is supported by the Ministry of Railways, Government of India.
This competition will be held at IIT Madras' state-of-the-art Hyperloop test facility, built with contributions from Indian Railways, ArcelorMittal, L&T, and HindalCo. Hyperloop, a high-speed transportation system proposed by Elon Musk in 2013, uses a near-vacuum tube to achieve speeds over 1000 km/h, revolutionizing future transit.
The event aims to foster innovation and collaboration, inspiring the next generation of engineers to reshape the future of transportation. Prof. Satya Chakravarthy, Faculty Advisor, emphasized the competition's role in empowering students and professionals to push the boundaries of transportation technology.
The competition will feature 400 participants competing in three categories: Pod Demonstration, Hyperloop InnoQuest, and DesignX, covering speed, safety, and real-world implementation challenges.
This event will serve as a global platform for students, researchers, and industry leaders to share ideas and drive the future of mobility.
