Delhi: In a landmark initiative, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) will launch its first special sailing expedition ahead of the Republic Day Camp 2025.

This event will see 528 Naval Wing cadets from across India sail 1,200 kilometers along the Ganges and Hooghly rivers, traversing Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal.

Titled 'Bharatiya Nadiya - Sanskritiyon ki Janani,' the expedition begins in Kanpur on October 21, 2024, and concludes in Kolkata on December 20, 2024.

Its aim is to honor India's maritime heritage while inspiring young people towards adventure and a life of service.

The six-phase journey will include key stops at Prayagraj, Varanasi, Buxar, Patna, and Farakka, with nearly 40 Associate NCC Officers guiding the cadets.

Beyond sailing, the cadets will engage with local NCC groups and contribute to the 'Swachh Bharat' initiative, cleaning riverbanks and reducing plastic waste. They will also perform 'Nukkad Nataks' (street plays) to promote cultural traditions and raise environmental awareness.

This pioneering effort is designed to connect India's youth with its waterways and inspire a sense of responsibility towards the nation's heritage and environment.
