Chennai: Today, schools across Tamil Nadu have been declared a holiday, along with another holiday scheduled for the 24th of this month.

According to the academic calendar released by the Department of School Education for the current year, a total of 220 working days have been set, including 19 Saturdays.

In response to demands from teachers' unions to reduce the number of working days and alleviate their workload, last month the 13th, which was a working Saturday, was declared a holiday.

Similarly, the 10th and 24th of this month, which fall on the second and fourth Saturdays, have also been announced as holidays for all schools.
