New Delhi: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) jointly hosted the 'Robotics for Good Youth Challenge India 2025' at the 9th India Mobile Congress (IMC) in New Delhi, celebrating innovation and youth-led robotics for social good.

Inaugurated by Shri Deb Kumar Chakrabarti, Member (Services), Digital Communications Commission, and Dr. Bilel Jamoussi, Deputy to the Director and Chief of TSB, the event showcased young innovators developing robotics-based solutions addressing food security and sustainable development under ITU's AI for Good Impact Initiative.

The challenge, co-organised with the I-Hub Foundation for Cobotics (IHFC), IIT Delhi, featured over 271 participants from 55 teams across India. It aimed to empower students aged 10-18 to design AI-driven robots tackling global issues, particularly hunger and agriculture.

Team Heyansh from Playto Labs, Bengaluru, won the Junior Category and will represent India at the Global Grand Finale in Geneva, Switzerland (July 2026). The Ambitious Avengers from Sant Atulanand Convent School, Varanasi, emerged Senior Category Champions for the second consecutive year.

A special awareness session on Digital Safety for Youth was conducted by Ms. Diksha Dhiman of DoT to promote responsible digital practices among students.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Chakrabarti urged youth to lead in AI and robotics innovation, emphasizing that India must “build capabilities and foster innovation among the younger generation to solve the innovation paradox.”

The event reaffirmed India's commitment to advancing technology for humanity through innovation, ethics, and inclusion.
