New Delhi: Delhi University has initiated the process for conducting the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections for the academic year 2025-26 by appointing key poll officials and issuing a strict advisory against defacement of university and college premises.
In a notification issued on Thursday, the university stated that the vice-chancellor, in his capacity as the patron of DUSU, has appointed the Chief Election Officer and Chief Returning Officer to oversee the elections for office bearers and members of the Central Council of the students' union.
Principals of affiliated colleges and heads of university institutions have also been designated as election officers for their respective campuses.
Though the election dates are yet to be announced, the university's advisory underlined the importance of maintaining cleanliness and campus decorum during the election period.
"Any defacement of walls of colleges, departments, libraries, administrative or any other university buildings by sticking of pamphlets, writing on walls, etc., shall be treated as a serious offence and action will be initiated against the concerned individual or organization," the advisory said.
It further instructed all colleges and departments to sensitise students to avoid any such acts during election campaigning.
The university also urged all stakeholders to uphold institutional norms and civic responsibilities, emphasizing that strict compliance with the advisory is expected from all concerned.
