Chennai: HDFC Bank on Wednesday said its corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm Parivartan has impacted more than 1.4 crore lives across Tamil Nadu since its launch in 2015, covering 37 out of the state's 38 districts, including Ramanathapuram and Virudhunagar — two Aspirational Districts.

The initiative focuses on six areas: rural development, education, skill training and livelihood, healthcare, financial inclusion, and natural resource management. Of these, rural development, education, and skilling have created the largest impact, the bank said. Over 24,500 farmers, 13,750 students, and nearly 1,500 trainees have benefitted so far.

Under its Holistic Rural Development Programme, Parivartan has reached 83 villages in districts including Ariyalur, Krishnagiri, Ranipet, Tenkasi, and Tiruchirappalli. Other focused projects have been implemented in Chennai, Coimbatore, Dharmapuri, Kanchipuram, Kanyakumari, Nagapattinam, Nilgiris, Thoothukudi, and Virudhunagar.

Key interventions in Tamil Nadu include digital learning facilities in 55 schools, climate-resilient farming, sericulture training for over 1,400 farmers in Krishnagiri, mobile medical units in Chennai, and support for women's self-help groups producing banana fibre products for global brands. The bank has also funded leading incubators such as IIT Madras, Villgro, Anna University, and Forge through its Parivartan Startup Grant, benefiting 51 startups.

In FY25, HDFC Bank spent ₹1,068 crore on CSR nationwide, impacting more than 10.56 crore lives under Parivartan.
