Chennai: The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has set up a CBU e-Learning Centre to support the vision of the Capacity Building Commission (CBC), Government of India, in delivering iGOT and Karmayogi training programmes and developing in-house courses for its staff.
The facility, with a seating capacity of 40-50, is equipped with laptops, desktops, tablets, printers, scanners, and an advanced audio-visual projection system. Training sessions are recorded and edited at the JIPMER TV Studio, established in 2018 by BECIL under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the first such studio in a government medical institute.
The e-Learning Centre, the first of its kind in India, was inaugurated on September 19, 2025, by Dr. R. Balasubramaniam, Member (HR), CBC, in the presence of JIPMER Director Prof. V. S. Negi, during a two-day visit of the CBC team.
As part of the visit, the CBC delegation held discussions with JIPMER's director, administrative heads, HODs, and staff, reviewed ongoing activities, and participated in Karmayogi sessions. Dr. Balasubramaniam also made a presentation and toured various departments.
JIPMER highlighted that its initiatives are aligned with the CBC's mission. To date, the institute has conducted 56 Karmayogi sessions, benefiting over 3,000 employees, with the objective of transforming them from “Karamchari to Karmayogi.”
