Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Police will soon set up anti-ragging cells in all districts.
As a part of statewide exercise, ahead of admissions to professional and other courses, Police personnel in plain clothes will be deployed in close vicinity to colleges.

Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) K. Radhakrishnan said the cells would be formed in all districts. Senior officers had been asked told to convene a meeting with college authorities to devise strategies for eradicating ragging.

The police personnel will maintain close vigil and interact with students, teachers and the management periodically. The police will inform the college authorities for appropriate action when instances of teasing or mischief come to light and the suspect will be arrested, said the.

Mr. Radhakrishnan said, a circular would be sent to all colleges asking them to display the punishment for ragging.

The ADGP Police Commissioners/Superintendents of Police had been instructed to take firm action on any information given by the public on ragging or eve-teasing.
