Puducherry: Pondicherry University (PU) and Texas State University (TSU), USA, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance academic and research cooperation between the two institutions.
The MoU envisions launching dual degree programmes, facilitating student and faculty exchanges, and jointly organizing academic events across disciplines. Officials from both universities hailed the agreement as a significant step towards fostering global academic engagement.
Prof. K. Tharanikkarasu, Director (Studies), Pondicherry University, said the collaboration aligns with the university's broader vision of internationalization and will offer diverse opportunities for cross-cultural learning and joint research.
Representing TSU, Prof. Sanjay Ramachander, Dean of the McCoy College of Business, termed the occasion a “Red Letter Day” and commended Pondicherry University as an ideal partner. Dr. Seth Frei, Assistant Dean, highlighted his interactions with PU students and said such collaborations would enhance student experiences and career prospects.
Prof. S. Victor Anandkumar, Dean (International Relations), Pondicherry University, noted the alignment in institutional missions, especially in serving first-generation learners. He said the tie-up would expose students to global academic standards, helping the university remain competitive.
Prof. Daniel Lazar, MoU Coordinator, described the agreement as university-wide, intended to benefit all departments and schools. Prof. P. Natarajan, Dean, School of Management, also welcomed the initiative, emphasizing its wide-reaching impact.
Faculty and officials from both institutions attended the signing ceremony, marking a new chapter in Indo-US academic collaboration.
