Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government is offering free skill training and assured job placement support to unemployed youth under its flagship 'Vetri Nichayam' scheme, aimed at enhancing employability across key sectors.

According to official sources, the scheme provides training in various domains including aerospace and aviation, agriculture, textiles, automotive, beauty and wellness, banking and financial services (BFSI), manufacturing, construction, consumer goods, IT-ITES, electronics and hardware, and home-based work.

Youth completing the training will be eligible for placement opportunities in leading companies, with select candidates also having prospects of employment abroad, officials said.

To encourage participation, trainees from backward classes are eligible for incentives up to Rs 12,000. In addition, candidates from distant regions are provided with free food and accommodation during the training period.

Eligibility criteria include being a resident of Tamil Nadu, aged between 18 and 35 years, and not currently enrolled in school or college. Applicants must have completed Class 10, Class 12, ITI, diploma, or a degree and be actively seeking employment.

Interested candidates can apply by downloading the 'TN Skill Wallet' mobile application and registering with the required details.
