கோல்கேட்,பெப்ஸோடண்ட்,பெப்ஸி கோகோ கோலா போன்ற பொருட்கள் அமெரிக்க பிராண்ட் ஆக இருந்தாலும் அவை இந்தியாவில் தொழிற்சாலை அமைத்து, இங்கு தயாரிக்கப்பட்டு, இந்திய அரசுக்கு வரி கட்டி, இந்தியர்களை வேலைக்கு அமர்த்தி, இந்தியப் பொருளாதாரம் உயர பயன்படுகிறது. அமெரிக்காவில் இருந்து நேரடியாக இறக்குமதி செய்யப்பட்டு இங்கு விற்பனை செய்யப்படும் பொருட்களை நாம் உபயோகிக்க வேண்டாம் என்று சொன்னால் அர்த்தம் உள்ளது.அதனால் இது அபத்தமான வாதம்.

If they don’t see profit, they will move away. That is why the relationship must be a win–win situation for both India and foreign investors. Take an example: if we say all Indians should only buy cars from Tata and Mahindra, then every other foreign car manufacturer will consider shutting down and leaving the country. The same logic applies to all industries. Such a move would severely impact our economy. Look at China — today it is a superpower largely because of foreign direct investments. We too need strong competition from international players so that consumers get high-quality products and services. Earlier, Indian customers had very limited choices and were often taken for granted by domestic players. Now, because of global competition, we have the freedom to choose better. Therefore, we cannot simply avoid foreign companies or their products, because our economy still depends on them. In the long term, yes, we must strengthen ourselves from the ground up — by focusing on practical education, skills, R&D, innovation, and boosting exports. Only then can we reduce dependency on FDIs. But at this moment, that is not fully possible, and we must balance carefully.
