FDDI hosts 6th convocation ceremony

chennai: the footwear design and development institute (fddi), operating under the union ministry of commerce and industry, celebrated its 6th convocation at the sipcot industrial park, irungattukottai, chennai.mr. abdul wahab, southern regional president of the leather export council, graced the occasion as the chief guest and conferred degrees upon the graduating students.the ceremony saw 82 students graduate from the bachelor's program (2020 batch) and master's program (2022 batch) in footwear design and fashion technology. in recognition of outstanding academic achievements, meritorious students were awarded medals and certificates by the chief guest.inhis inspiring convocation address, mr. wahab lauded the graduates for their hard work and perseverance. “this degree marks the beginning of your journey towards success. may you achieve great heights and bring pride to your parents and the nation,” he said.highlighting tamil nadu's prominence in the footwear manufacturing industry, mr. wahab commended the state's leadership and the initiatives of both central and state governments. “footwear manufacturing units have expanded beyond chennai to emerging industrial hubs like perambalur, kallakurichi, panapakkam, and seyyar,” he remarked. he also emphasized the growing global popularity of indian brands, envisioning a bright future for the sector.the event was attended by mr. sundaresan, managing director of fddi; renowned fashion entrepreneur ms. xxl tina vincent; faculty members; and proud parents of the graduates.
