Financial assistance to six journalists

chennai: minister saminathan has extended ₹10.01 lakh in financial aid to six journalists for medical treatment under the journalist welfare fund scheme.as part of the journalist welfare fund scheme, ₹2.50 lakh is provided to journalists for medical expenses in cases of severe illness. retired journalists also receive 50% of the total fund in the form of pension support.ina ceremony held yesterday at the chief secretariat, minister saminathan handed over cheques worth ₹10.01 lakh to six journalists. the event was attended by tamil development and information department secretary rajaraman, information department director vaidyanathan, and other officials.since 2021, a total of ₹25.11 lakh has been disbursed to 13 journalists under this welfare scheme.
