IIT Madras holds 61st convocation, 2,636 students graduate
chennai: iit madras celebrated its 61st convocation, with 2,636 students graduating and 3,016 degrees awarded. among the highlights, isro chairman shri s. somanath received his phd in mechanical engineering.nobel laureate dr. brian k. kobilka, the chief guest, emphasized hard work, persistence, and learning from failures in his address. dr. kobilka was awarded the nobel prize in chemistry in 2012, shared insights from his career, encouraging graduates to embrace challenges and innovate.significant achievements of iit madras this year include the establishment of the wadhwani school of data science & ai and the school of interdisciplinary studies, along with the launch of the agnibaan rocket. the international interdisciplinary master's degree programs (i2mp) also saw its first batch graduate.dr. pawan goenka, chairman, board of governors, iit madras, highlighted india's rapid economic growth and the role of technology in achieving the vision of a developed india by 2047. he urged graduates to be bold and transformative in their careers.director prof. v. kamakoti reported a successful year with 419 patents filed, a thriving startup ecosystem, and substantial industry collaboration.top medal winners included aditya c.
