International Mother Language Day 2025 at CSIR-SERC & CMC

chennai: csir-structural engineering research centre (csir-serc) and csir madras complex (cmc) celebrated international mother language day from 20-24 february 2025 with four sessions: an inaugural event, research presentations, cultural programs, and a valedictory session.the inauguration on 20 february featured prof. karu. nagarajan as the chief guest. on 21 february, scientists and staff presented 20 research talks in tamil, hindi, telugu, malayalam, odia, kannada, and marathi. the afternoon saw cultural performances, including drama, singing, and poetry.the valedictory session on 24 february was graced by pulavar r. shanmugavadivel, who emphasized the significance of one's mother tongue in learning and culture. dr. anandavalli, director, csir-serc, highlighted the role of language in preserving knowledge. the chief guest honored participants, and dr. alok kumar ramakrishna paul delivered the vote of thanks.the celebrations underscored the importance of linguistic diversity and cultural heritage.
