chennai: to support students in overcoming exam-related stress, 65 counselors have been appointed to provide mental health assistance through the toll-free helpline 14417.school education minister anbil mahesh poyyamozhi inspected the 14417 counseling center at dpi complex, nungambakkam, chennai, yesterday.speaking to the media, he highlighted the helpline's role in addressing students' concerns, including mental health challenges and complaints related to harassment. to enhance awareness, the helpline number is printed on textbook covers, and he himself occasionally wears a t-shirt displaying it.over the past two years, the helpline has received 84 complaints related to sexual harassment, with action taken against eight perpetrators within school premises and others from outside.as exams approach, anxiety among students has increased. to support them, 65 counselors are now available in three shifts. the minister reassured students that exams will be conducted in their respective schools, easing logistical concerns.additionally, he encouraged students to seek help via 14417 for any other issues they may face.
