chennai: the university grants commission (ugc) has mandated the refund of fees for students who transfer to other colleges.ina circular issued to colleges and universities, the ugc addressed complaints regarding non-compliance with refund policies. during a meeting in may this year, chaired by the ugc secretary, the issue of colleges and universities failing to refund fees to students who change institutions or departments was thoroughly discussed.the ugc has now issued specific guidelines stipulating that admission fees already paid must be refunded to students who transfer to other colleges or departments. educational institutions are required to adhere to these guidelines. failure to comply may result in various actions, including the cancellation of accreditation.
