Pattam quiz sparks student enthusiasm in Chennai
chennai: brimming with competitive spirit, school students displayed their knowledge and quick thinking at the 'pattam' quiz organised by dinamalar's student edition and rajalakshmi institute of technology in chennai, marking the launch of the annual inter-school quiz series across tamil nadu. the 'pattam' magazine, a student-focused publication by dinamalar, has gained wide popularity among schoolchildren for its blend of academic content, general knowledge, and language development features. to nurture student curiosity, 'pattam' has been conducting quiz competitions for the past six years, offering prizes and certificates to outstanding participants.this year's edition spans 200 schools, with four top-performing teams to be shortlisted for the grand finale. the first round of the competition was held at ambattur sri venkateswara matriculation higher secondary school, drawing over 500 students. sixteen students advanced to the final stage of the regional round, competing in eight teams. the team of kavipriya and harini emerged as winners, while three teams shared the second place.trophies, medals, and certificates were presented by rit principal dr. r. maheshwari, sri venkateswara school principal uma kannan, dinamalar editor alagarsamy kannan, pattam editor venkatesh, and deputy general manager shekar.addressing the gathering, uma kannan lauded 'pattam' as “a magazine that gives wings to students' dreams” and fosters curiosity through science, history, and innovation. dr. maheshwari noted that 'pattam' quizzes had even inspired her daughter to pursue medicine.last year's quiz finale, held at the kalaivanar arangam, featured prizes such as laptops, bicycles, and bluetooth speakers. organisers said this year's winners can expect equally exciting rewards, sponsored by sathya agencies.
