Ayurveda Research Institute in Chennai marks 10th Ayurveda Day, Poshan Maah and Swasth Nari Abhiyan
chennai: the captain srinivasa murthy central ayurveda research institute (csmcari), a peripheral unit of the central council for research in ayurvedic sciences (ccras), ministry of ayush, celebrated the 10th ayurveda day on tuesday with a series of community-focused programmes.observed annually on september 23, this year's theme was “ayurveda for people and planet,” with sub-themes on ayurveda aahara for obesity, digital transformation of ayurveda, and combating misleading advertisements. the institute also integrated activities under poshan maah and swasth nari sashkat parivar abhiyan.from september 12 to 23, a variety of events were organised, including essay writing, poster-making, rangoli, debates, yoga sessions, webinars, and non-flame cooking contests. an awareness programme for siddha students and a collaborative yoga session with the government yoga and naturopathy college, arumbakkam, were also held.free medical camps at perumbakkam and arumbakkam benefitted nearly 180 people, with consultations provided by csmcari research officers. iec materials and medicinal saplings were distributed to promote home cultivation of herbs, while plantation drives highlighted ayurveda's role in environmental well-being.the concluding day featured a webinar on integrating cancer care with ayurveda and a lecture on national standards and quality control in the ayush sector. prizes were distributed to winners of various competitions. under poshan maah, free screening for women was conducted, along with the distribution of nutritious laddus to women and children.the programmes were coordinated by dr. s. chitra, assistant director (in-charge), with support from institute staff and students.
