NCERT inks MoU with UEducate to convert textbooks into interactive digital format
new delhi: the national council of educational research and training (ncert) on thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (mou) with edtech firm ueducate global private limited to digitise its curriculum using an interactive format called katbook. the initiative aims to make learning more inclusive and technology-driven in line with the national education policy (nep) 2020 and the digital india mission.the mou was formalised at ncert's headquarters by secretary aman sharma and senior council officials along with ueducate's founder and managing director, sarath kakumanu, and director of global strategic partnerships, manpreet chadha.katbooks, described as interactive digital textbooks, will offer multimedia-rich learning through videos, animations and simulations. teachers will gain access to ai-powered classroom tools, translation support, dictionaries and audiobooks to aid lesson preparation and delivery. the platform will also feature virtual laboratories, gamified learning, multilingual accessibility and personalisation options.“these digital books will empower teachers, inspire students and make education more interactive and impactful than ever before,” kakumanu said, adding that the project would ensure quality education reaches every child, regardless of location.the resources will be available offline to ensure equitable access, with pilot projects planned in select states before a nationwide rollout over 18 months. ncert said the initiative is expected to benefit over 25 crore students, making it one of the largest edtech deployments globally.ueducate, an indian edtech company, focuses on building innovative digital learning solutions to make education affordable and accessible.
