delhi: admissions to sainik schools for the 2025-26 academic year have officially opened, with the all india sainik schools entrance examination (aissee) set to determine eligibility. the exam, conducted by the national examination agency (nta), will serve as the gateway for students seeking admission to sainik schools across india.the sainik schools, managed by the sainik schools society (sss) under the ministry of defence, provide students with the opportunity to receive coaching for prestigious military academies such as the national defence academy (nda) and indian naval academy (ina).eligibility criteria and application processto be eligible for class vi admission, candidates must be between 10 to 12 years of age as of march 31, 2025. for class ix, applicants must be between 13 to 15 years old. girl students are eligible to apply for class ix only, subject to vacancies.applications can be submitted online through the official aissee 2025 portal at https://aissee2025.ntaonline.in/. the last date for submission is january 13, 2025.examination detailsthe aissee will be held in two categories:class vi: the exam will consist of multiple-choice questions in 13 languages, including tamil, english, hindi, telugu, kannada, and malayalam, lasting for 150 minutes.class ix: the exam will be conducted in english only, spanning 180 minutes.admission processsuccessful candidates will be admitted to one of 73 sainik schools across the country, including 40 newly established institutions. the selection will be based on performance in the entrance exam, along with other merit criteria. the exam will be held at 190 examination centres across india.for more information, candidates are advised to visit the official aissee website: https://exams.nta.ac.in/aissee/.
