Swaroop Sampat-Rawal Awarded Fellowship by University of Worcester for Contributions to Education

new delhi: actress-turned-educator swaroop sampat-rawal has been awarded a prestigious fellowship by the university of worcester, uk, in recognition of her contribution to inclusive education, life-skills development and social change.sampat-rawal, a former miss india and popular bollywood actor, has been widely recognised for her work in using drama-based learning to support children with learning disabilities. she completed her phd in education at the university of worcester in 2006, researching the use of drama to enhance life skills.“it feels incredible to be recognised by the university of worcester. my time there gave me the confidence to excel in education,” she said, adding that being inducted into the college of fellows marked a significant milestone in her journey.she was previously honoured with an honorary doctorate by the university in 2018. among her recent accolades is the education world educational researcher tree award for 2025-26. she was also named among the top 10 teachers globally by the varkey foundation in 2019.beyond academia, sampat-rawal contributed to the rewriting of india's national school curriculum, helping advance reforms aimed at improving student learning. she continues to champion inclusive, creative and holistic approaches to education.the university of worcester said the fellowship underscores her impact as an educator and social change advocate.
