UP to introduce skill training in secondary schools

lucknow: the uttar pradesh government announced that for the 2025-26 financial year, skill training will be rolled out in government secondary schools across the state under project praveen.the uttar pradesh kaushal vikas mission (upkvm) has set targets for training providers, who are required to establish training centres, obtain approval from the district programme management unit, and commence training batches by october 20, 2025. registered trainees will receive free study material, distributed under the supervision of district officials.training providers must upload at least three photographs of the material distribution and batch commencement, along with acknowledgement receipts verified by the district programme management unit, on the mission portal to ensure transparency and accountability.highlighting the initiative, the government said project praveen aims to equip secondary school students with employment-oriented skills alongside traditional education.priya singh, additional mission director of upkvm, reviewed ongoing registrations for the india skills competition 2025 and directed district units to intensify campaigns, counselling camps, and coordination to boost youth participation. the registration deadline has been extended to october 15, 2025.further details and registration for the competition are available at https://www.skillindiadigital.gov.in.
