The 1333 Bikeathon Out of the Shadows is a bike ride against Suicide reached Trincomalee on Tuesday{03.09.2024). Rotarians of Trincomalee received the Cycle Riders. This is organized by CCC Foundation along with Rotary Clubs. The purpose of this island vise Ride is to promote the Telephone Line 1333 to escape from Suicide intention. Statistics show that around eleven people die by suicide every day in Sri Lanka. For every one person who dies by suicide, there are ten others who fail in their attempts. The ultimate aim of CCC line 1333 is to reduce the suicide rate in Sri Lanka through education, engagement and empowerment to break the stigma attached to mental illness and contributory social issues. We believe that empowering people to come “Out of the Shadows” and talk about their problems is fundamental in reducing social issues that ultimately lead to suicide. As you already may be aware of the 1333 toll free number operated by CCC line 1333. CCC line 1333 is a confidential and free telephone counselling service to encourage people to talk about their problems whether they be personal, relationship or family issues, schools or work worries, mental illness or suicide thoughts. The service is free and accessible to all people of Sri Lanka and currently average 2000 calls every month. 'The primary objective therefore is to raise awareness of the toll free 1333 among the communities in Srilanka. Rotarians gave Lunch at Rotary House, Trincomalee.
