Chennai: The Regional Passport Office, Chennai, has launched a two-day mobile passport seva camp at Anna University's Guindy campus to provide easy access to passport services for students.

The camp, which began on Monday, was inaugurated by S. Govendhan, Director of the Passport Seva Project, Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi. Regional Passport Officer S. Vijayakumar also attended the inaugural event.

The initiative, scheduled for August 18 and 19, aims to simplify the passport application and verification process for university students by offering services directly on campus. Officials said the effort is part of the ministry's outreach to make passport facilities more accessible and student-friendly.

Through this camp, students can complete key formalities such as document verification and biometric capture without visiting a passport seva kendra. The move is expected to benefit a large number of students preparing for higher studies or international opportunities.

Passport authorities said similar initiatives would be expanded to other institutions based on demand.
