Future Ready initiative for students
the tamil nadu school education department has introduced a new initiative called future ready for government school students from classes 1 to 9. under this programme, questions will be designed every month to encourage higher-order thinking in english, mathematics, science, and general knowledge, based on the subject matter studied by the students in the previous year. the initiative will be implemented by the state council of educational research and training (scert), which will prepare the question sets and conduct monthly assessment tests for students using these questions.this initiative has been launched to ensure that students can face competitive exams, aptitude tests, and skill assessments for future employment with confidence. it is expected to enhance students' thinking abilities, improve retention of what they have studied, and reduce anxiety related to examinations. by engaging with questions that require analytical and logical thinking, students will develop skills that will benefit them not only academically but also in their future careers.the monthly questions will cover reading, grammar, mathematics, and science in english, with separate sets for general knowledge. scert will prepare these questions and send them to schools through the district teacher training institutes. school principals are responsible for downloading the materials and conducting the assessment tests with the help of teachers. mathematics, science, and english tests will be conducted by the respective subject teachers, while general knowledge questions will be handled by class teachers. principals are required to monitor the process each month to ensure smooth implementation.it has been advised that the activities under this initiative should be discussed by teachers, district education officers, and district primary education officers during school inspections and consultation meetings. teachers have expressed that this programme will be highly beneficial for students, helping them in higher education as well as in their overall development.beyond textbook knowledge, the initiative encourages students to acquire skills, experiences, and holistic development through field trips, cultural activities, arts, sports, and soft skill training. students can gain valuable educational experiences outside the classroom, enhance their abilities through storytelling, drama, music, and arts and crafts, and engage in sports to improve health, teamwork, and leadership qualities. the programme also focuses on developing leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, building an educational system that integrates research, technology, and experiential learning to prepare students for the future.
