CISCE to introduce Robotics, AI for classes 11, 12 by 2025-26
new delhi: the council for the indian school certificate examinations (cisce) is set to introduce robotics and artificial intelligence (ai) as subjects for students of classes xi and xii, starting from the 2025-26 academic year. this major reform aligns with the national education policy (nep) 2020 and is expected to benefit over three million students across india.according to the times of india, younger students will also experience curriculum changes, with ai and coding integrated into their computer science lessons, presented in a simplified and engaging manner.inline with these curriculum updates, cisce will launch a holistic progress card, offering a 360-degree evaluation of students' academic and non-academic achievements. this new assessment framework aims to provide a broader understanding of student development.the structure of board exams will also undergo changes. by 2025, 25% of exam questions will be competency-based, with a gradual increase to 50% by 2027. this shift focuses on evaluating students' critical thinking and core skills, moving away from rote learning.additionally, digital assessments for classes iii, v, and viii will be introduced to identify students needing extra support or excelling beyond their grade levels. cisce will also initiate a school improvement plan, encouraging top-performing schools to partner with state governments to enhance the quality of education in government schools.
