CSIR celebrates 83rd Foundation Day with enthusiasm

chennai: the 83rd foundation day of csir was celebrated at the csir campus in taramani, chennai, by csir-serc and csir madras complex (cmc). the open day, held on september 26, 2024, welcomed over 9,200 visitors, including students, teachers, professionals, and the general public. visitors explored cutting-edge research, technologies, and facilities across multiple csir laboratories.the formal foundation day event took place on october 4, 2024, with dr. n. anandavalli, director of csir-serc, presiding. chief guest shri m.s. unnikrishnan, ceo of iitb-monash research academy, highlighted the importance of research organizations like csir in driving india's innovation economy. he emphasized the need for collaboration between academia and industry to overcome economic challenges and foster technological advancements.the event also featured the presentation of the prestigious dr. m. ramaiah prize for the best technical papers published by csir-serc scientists. additionally, employees who retired or completed 25 years of service were honored.the celebrations included the eureka inter-school quiz and science competitions for csir employees' wards, with winners recognized during the function.
