Global South Universities Key to Achieving UN SDGs: JGU Vice Chancellor

tokyo: prof. (dr.) c. raj kumar, vice chancellor of o.p. jindal global university (jgu), highlighted the critical role of global south universities in achieving the un sustainable development goals (sdgs) at the acuns annual meeting. in his keynote, "the role of universities in the global south for achieving the sdgs," dr. kumar emphasized the urgency of realizing agenda 2030 within the next six years. he called for strategic actions from all stakeholders, including governments and corporations, to address pressing global issues.the 2024 acuns annual meeting featured the release of the jgu sustainable development report, showcasing how universities can directly contribute to sdgs through education, research, community support, gender awareness, and environmental policies. the report was presented to acuns leaders and participants. jgu was represented by 15 faculty members who presented their research, with prof. dr. vesselin popovski awarding the 2024 best dissertation awards to rebecca yemo and johannes scherzinger.
