HC seeks TN Governments stand on caste name displayed at schools

chennai: the madras high court has sought the tamil nadu government's stance on the display of caste names at school entrances.during a hearing on the matter, justice bharat chakravarthy raised key constitutional and legal concerns, questioning whether caste names should be prominently displayed when the constitution advocates for a casteless society.the judge posed several critical queries:can caste names be displayed at school entrances while promoting a casteless society?is it legally permissible to form associations that uphold caste identity?do association registration laws allow the formation of caste-based organizations?how are schools and colleges run by caste-based associations regulated?what is the tamil nadu government's official position on this issue?the high court has directed the state government to clarify its stand by february 19.
