National Science Day Celebrated at CSIR Campus, Chennai
chennai: national science day was celebrated with enthusiasm at csir-structural engineering research centre (csir-serc) and csir madras complex (cmc) on thursday, marking the discovery of the raman effect by sir c.v. raman.dr. n. anandavalli, director, csir-serc and coordinating director, cmc, presided over the event. prof. dr. stephan grill, director, max planck institute of molecular cell biology & genetics, germany, delivered the keynote lecture on the “physics of life,” discussing the formation of organisms, cells, and molecular motors.dr. anandavalli emphasized the importance of science in daily life and the role of youth in india's scientific progress under the 2025 theme, empowering indian youth for global leadership in science & innovation for viksit bharat.as part of the celebrations, the second edition of the dr. n. lakshmanan memorial science quiz was held for greater chennai corporation school students. chss, virugambakkam, won the first prize, followed by chs, korattur, and chs, padikuppam. winners received trophies and cash prizes.the event concluded with a vote of thanks by dr. p. harikrishna, chief scientist, csir-serc.
