NEP promotes mother tongue education: Minister Dr. L Murugan

chennai: the national education policy (nep) emphasizes primary education in the mother tongue to enhance learning outcomes, said union minister of state for information & broadcasting and parliamentary affairs, dr. l murugan. addressing the media in chennai, he highlighted that the policy aims to ensure inclusive and quality education for all, aligning with expert recommendations.dr. murugan reaffirmed the union government's commitment to the trilingual policy, stating that students can opt for any indian language as the third language, with no specific language being made mandatory. he emphasized that the nep seeks to extend quality education and research opportunities to underprivileged students, including those from economically weaker sections, scheduled castes, and backward communities studying in government schools.“education shapes the future of youth, and it should remain free from political influence. the central government has designed nep to guarantee quality education for all,” he asserted.the minister also underscored the role of atal innovation labs in pm shri schools in fostering creativity among students. however, he expressed concern that a ₹5,000 crore fund meant for tamil nadu students has been withheld.
