Power Finance funds lab at Medical Sciences Dept in IIT Madras
chennai: power finance corporation (pfc), a central public sector undertaking, has funded a cutting-edge anatomy laboratory at the department of medical sciences and technology, iit madras. this initiative, supported by a ₹16.5 crore csr grant, aims to revolutionize medical education through the integration of advanced technology.the lab, a first-of-its-kind dry anatomy facility in india, meets medical college standards and is designed to enhance the bs degree programme in medical sciences and engineering at iit madras. by merging medical sciences with engineering principles, the lab will provide students with hands-on experience and foster innovation in medical research.the inauguration was attended by pfc chairperson and managing director parminder chopra, iit madras director prof. v. kamakoti, and other dignitaries. chopra emphasized pfc's commitment to enriching lives through csr initiatives and highlighted the lab's potential to drive the development of advanced medical devices and technologies.prof. kamakoti praised the collaboration, noting that the lab represents a significant leap forward in medical education, fostering innovation that could transform healthcare in india. established in february 2023, the department of medical sciences and technology at iit madras aims to train future physician scientists and engineering physiologists.
